SPECTRUM TV APP FOR MACBOOK PRO PRO
I thought I had a use case that required an M1 Max, so to keep the cost down I purchased the 14" MacBook Pro M1 Max 24-core GPU and 64GB of RAM. The reality is that the prior 13" M1 MacBook Air or M1 MacBook Pro from 2020 will do the majority of what most MacBook users really need. Well, it's all about what you need your 14" or 16" MacBook Pro M1 Pro or M1 Max for. No issues with authorizers, ilok, installers or running mixed native/rosetta in sessions. the VST or AU work in Live, but the AU validation fails in Logic, or the one in Logic works great, but the AAX fails Protools validation).

A handful of non-native or updated things will work on one but not another (i.e. Some older installer programs are a PITA and need updates, but generally updating to latest version fixes everything. Some plugins have been clearly abandoned (Poly-Ana, iDrum, Sonivox) but nothing you can't live without. A few that are not working 100% (GForce, Vaporizer) and waiting for updates. Most rosetta stuff works fine, maybe a few very minor issues with screen redraws and graphics. I've bought or upgraded every plugin and synth you can imagine over the years (NI, Arturia, Waves, Spectrasonics, Softube, AAS, IK Multimedia, TAL/Togu, u-He, Cherry Audio, Vital, VPS, Sylenth, Synthmaster, NoiseAsh, PluginAlliance, iZotope, SSL, Eventide, Sonnox, AIR, McDSP, AudioThing, Altiverb, SoundToys, AutoTune, etc.).

Live 11.0.12 (not ARM optimized), Logic Pro 10.7.2 Native, Reason 12.2.3 and Protools 21.7.0, 99% of everything "just kind of works". I've been running M1 Mini for 3 months and done some pretty extensive beta testing and work with plugin manufactures.
